Who We Are
Habitat for Humanity Lake County (HFHLC) is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Established in 1989, the sole purpose of Habitat for Humanity Lake County is to provide safe, decent and affordable homes that hard-working, low-income families can call their very own.
Our mission
Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
Our vision
A world where everyone has a decent place to live.
What We Do
Habitat for Humanity honors the role that faith communities play in building a better world. In our mission of building decent homes for all, we work alongside and serve people of all faith backgrounds, and celebrate the role many faiths play in building stronger communities.
Members of all faiths are welcome!
Get together with members of many faiths to respond to our regional housing crisis. We strive to be an example of what we can accomplished when we work together.
Our Affiliate will be hosting an annual Interfaith Build Week each summer where we are encouraging groups from all faiths and religions to join us on our construction sites for a fun-filled day of service!
Who: Groups of 10-12 people from any and all religions, backgrounds, and faiths are welcome! If you are unable to gather a group of 10-12 we would be happy to accommodate a smaller crew. We will need to pair you with another smaller crew depending on availability but this would be a great chance for fellowship and building new relationships!
What: An amazing day of service! You will be working alongside our construction team on one of our construction projects which will soon be a future home for one of our partner families. Depending on what phase of construction we are in at the time projects could include painting, drywall, landscaping, flooring, siding, and so much more! We welcome all individuals who are 16 or older who would like to participate whether they have experience in construction or not. We will teach you all that you need to know and guide you through the day as needed.
Where: Our homes are typically built in North Chicago and Waukegan. Build Site locations and project descriptions are set to you closer to your arrival.
When: Each summer we will be hosting an annual Interfaith Build Week. Dates will be posted for next year soon!
